Christ the King School, London

Building on the successful foundations of a now completed 5 year programme of refurbishment, extension and remodelling projects which have provided huge improvements to core aspects of the schools primary accommodation and functionality of the school, a further 5 phases of work are being developed by ZRP alongside the school’s Senior Leadership Team at Christ the King.

These phases include:

New Learning Hub

This project centres around the replacement of the school’s outdated temporary classrooms with a new learning resource hub. This is planned to include specialist teaching accommodation and community outreach space, along with a new outdoor learning terrace, kitchen and WCs.

Playground and External Facilities

A programme of extensive refurbishment of the schools external play areas is being developed to include floodlighting and multisport surfaced pitches. Changing and WC facilities are also planned to be included so as to provide opportunity for use by the wider community outside of school hours, generating additional income for the school to re-invest in their pupils and buildings.

Outdoor Learning Terraces

New structures are being designed to extend the principal 2 storey teaching block, providing additional space for teaching and learning, as well as break out space from the main school building. This will also help to shade the classrooms from sunlight and reduce overheating, while new planting will help to improve biodiversity and clean air immediately adjacent to the main teaching spaces. General access, mobility, pupil flow, fire safety and security will also be improved.
